Death From Above 1979 Announce New Album ‘The Physical World’

In September of 2012, dance punk rock group Death From Above 1979 announced they had reunited, were writing new songs, and were going to hit up several festivals. That new material now looks a lot more real. In an interview with NME, the duo have announced a new album, titled The Physical World, that will come out September 9 via Last Gang. As the label’s head Chris Taylor said, “We can confirm DFA1979 is in the studio making an album set for fall release. Hell has frozen over, dogs and cats living together, mass hysteria….throw in Dave Sardy and it is a meeting of truly biblical proportions.”

The long-awaited follow-up to 2004’s You’re a Woman, I’m a Machine was produced by Dave Sardy (Oasis, Nine Inch Nails) and saw a lot of inspiration from the band’s persistent fans. “No matter what Jesse and I do, on whatever scale of success it’s sat on, there’s always some kind of reference to Death From Above,” said the band’s Sebastien Grainger. “It’s only frustrating because it’s so lazy. So we’re putting out a Death From Above record and if the press is like, ‘It’s not what we expected,’ or however they react to it, it’s like, ‘Well, you’ve been fucking asking for it.'”

According to DIY Mag, The Physical World has tracks titled “Right On,” “Virgins,” and “Cheap Tal.”. Hear some of the audio over at Death From Above 1979’s website.
