The Front Bottoms Stream ‘Rose’ EP

The Front Bottoms have partnered with our friends at Red Bull to share a full stream of their Rose EP, which was released to digital retailers earlier this week.

Rose is named after drummer Mat Uychich’s grandmother, Rosemary, and is the first in a planned series of EPs named after The Front Bottoms’ grandmothers. The six-track release features classic or ‘deep cut’ tracks that the band has never properly released, but due to the proliferation of music online still receive requests for while on tour. It’s admittedly a bit sad throughout, but still with that toe-tapping accompaniment that makes The Front Bottoms so damn irresistible. You can stream the EP, in full, below.

“When Mat and I first made these songs,” explains Sella to Red Bull, “we never thought anyone other than the friends we emailed them to the same night we recorded them would listen. But when we started playing bigger shows, people would ask us to play these older songs. They are songs that we recorded in a friend’s basement, and we always felt they deserved a better history.”

“The grandma EPs allow us to give the songs the credit they deserve,” continues Sella. “With the passing of both our grandmothers around the same time, the opportunity to make this EP seemed like the right thing to do… and one or two songs are included because Mat’s grandmother really liked them.”
