New ‘The Equalizer’ Trailer: Just Your Average Every Day Crime Fighting

We brought you what we thought to be the first trailer for The Equalizer a few weeks back, but we recently learned that was a not-so-official cut that somehow found its way online. Today, Sony released what they’re calling the first official look at the new Denzel Washington film, and we have the full trailer right here on UTG.

Boston is a city that has appeared on film many ways in recent years. For The Equalizer, one of the nation’s oldest cities turns into a festering hub of crime, with villains lurking around every corner. Thankfully, for everyday people like you and I there is someone willing to stand up to the assholes who try and make life a little less livable. His name is McCall, and in this film he will take on the Russian mob to save a young woman he barely knows. You can get your first look at the film below:

A lot of the footage here was seen in the initial trailer leak a few weeks back, but the bit about The Old Man And The Sea was certainly a welcomed addition. Also, the shots of Washington’s day job and the troubles that arise there appear to be unique to this trailer as well. I’m sure we will see more when trailer two and three hit the net a few weeks from now.

Denzel has made a habit out of finding one-off action films he can make his own, and even though The Equalizer is technically a reboot of an essentially forgotten television series, it feels designed specifically for him. This is thanks, no doubt, to the keen eye of director Antoine Fuqua, who previously partnered with Denzel on Training Day.

The Equalizer opens September 26.
