James Vincent McMorrow Releases Gorgeous New Video For “Gold”

When you’ve got a hypnotizing falsetto and mellow folky vibes like James Vincent McMorrow, you need the arresting and hypnotic visuals to match. Emma J Doyle and Cory Philpott wrote, directed, and produced exactly what JVM’s Post Tropical single, “Gold,” needed.

Filmed around some of San Francisco’s most beautiful areas (Horseshoe Bay, the Exploratorium, and the Sutro Baths below the Cliff House), the video accompaniment to “Gold” contains breathtaking cinematography as we follow our protagonist around the city, losing himself peacefully in his own form of escapism. I felt some stress lifted just from watching the video, and I’m not gonna lie…it’s kind of got me wanting to find a sweet pair of roller skates.

Watch the video after the jump and make sure to check out McMorrow’s newest album, Post Tropical.

Such a great video. Reminds me of when my wife and I stumbled upon the roller skate park in Golden Gate Park in SF, on a roadtrip from Vancouver to LA a few years ago.

Just like in the video’s tag, music was pumping from a modified stroller carrying a speaker and car battery and there were a whole bunch of folks transported right out of the past onto that piece of blacktop. It was a truly beautiful experience. What I felt that day is communicated so well by this video.
