Basement Announce Surprise EP, Stream “Summer’s Colour”

When news broke earlier this year that Basement were planning a reunion tour, I’ll be the first to admit I was little disappointed to learn the band was not also planning to release more music. If you felt the same, fret not!

Today, Basement and Run For Cover Records joined forces with our friends at Noisey to reveal that the band will indeed be releasing a new EP called Further Sky later this year. The group also shared the first song off the album, titled “Summer’s Colour,” which you can stream at the very end of this post.

Speaking with Noisey about getting back into the swing of making music again, Basement member Alex Henery offered:

It feels great. It’s really the central part of the band; writing, and being creative. So when that went away for a while… well, it didn’t really go away. We were all writing, everyone still plays their instruments. I still like playing guitar. It was last winter I went home for Christmas and we all met up and had some ideas and went to a weird practice spot and just started jamming. We didn’t really expect anything to happen, but in the end, we were like, “Well, why not record? Let’s not wait around, let’s just do it.” So, it happened.

No release date has been set for Further Sky, but we assume those details will be made public soon. Follow UTG on Twitter for updates.
