New ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy’ Trailer: Now With More Rocket Raccoon!

I know it seems like we have been talking about Marvel‘s Guardians Of The Galaxy forever at this point, but with six weeks to go before the film’s official release the time has come for the studio’s marketing team to kick their efforts into overdrive.

This morning, a new UK trailer for Guardians popped up online. The two and a half minute clip offers a plethora of new footage from the film, including a bit of back story on Star Lord and a whole lot of Rocket Raccoon’s signature sass. Groot gets a few words in as well. You can view the clip, which does not seem too spoiler-y, below:

Chris Pratt is on the verge of being America’s next obsession, but I think it’s Rocket Raccoon who will be considered the true ‘star’ of Guardians once all is said and done. There have been rumors that Marvel may even be considering giving the Bradley Cooper voiced character his own film, so it seems the studio may be expecting the same result.

The official synopsis for Guardians Of The Galaxy reads:

From Marvel, the studio that brought you the global blockbuster franchises of Iron Man, Thor, Captain America and The Avengers, comes a new team—the Guardians of the Galaxy. An action-packed, epic space adventure, Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” expands the Marvel Cinematic Universe into the cosmos, where brash adventurer Peter Quill finds himself the object of an unrelenting bounty hunt after stealing a mysterious orb coveted by Ronan, a powerful villain with ambitions that threaten the entire universe. To evade the ever-persistent Ronan, Quill is forced into an uneasy truce with a quartet of disparate misfits—Rocket, a gun-toting raccoon, Groot, a tree-like humanoid, the deadly and enigmatic Gamora and the revenge-driven Drax the Destroyer. But when Quill discovers the true power of the orb and the menace it poses to the cosmos, he must do his best to rally his ragtag rivals for a last, desperate stand—with the galaxy’s fate in the balance.

Guardians of the Galaxy opens on August 1. Written and directed by James Gunn, the film stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Lee Pace, Michael Rooker, Karen Gillan, Djimon Hounsou, John C. Reilly, Glenn Close and Benicio del Toro.
