Alt-J Already Vying For AOTY With First ‘This Is All Yours’ Single

Alt-J came out swinging with their 2012 debut LP, An Awesome Wave, immediately proving their worth in the ranks of indie and experimental rock. It was rare to find a ‘top albums’ list within the indie world at the end of 2012 that An Awesome Wave wasn’t featured on. Here we are two years later and Alt-J look to be after those top spots once again.

The Leeds-based trio recently announced that their second LP, entitled This Is All Yours, will be hitting shelves on September 22 via Warner Music. Without even so much as a teaser of new material, the album immediately shot up to the top of many ‘most anticipated’ lists, and after hearing the first single that was released today, it’ll more than likely stay there.

“Hunger For The Pine” is a silky jam led by Joe Newman’s exceptional vocals, backed by swelling orchestration, a smooth beat, and even an unexpected Miley Cyrus sample that takes the song to another level.
