Stream Chrome Sparks’ “Marijuana” With The Addition Of Kitty

One of my favorite stand-alone tracks of 2013 was Chrome Sparks‘ “Marijuana,” hands down. I don’t even smoke, so it has nothing to do with the title. The production is just stellar. The song grooves and bounces along and you simply can’t help but do the same.

Just yesterday, internet celebrity of sorts and Noisey contributor, Kitty (formerly known as Kitty Pryde), teamed up with the Ann Arbor producer to create her own take on the high-inducing single by adding her own smooth, poppy bars over the track. I’ll admit that I prefer the original vocal-less cut to Kitty’s new re-imagination, but her version definitely works in its own right. Maybe I’ve heard the original too many times for this to sink in yet, but I’ll let you be the judge. The song slaps regardless so give it a spin after the jump.

Kitty had the following to say about the song and other news:

hello friends!
i’m very excited to share a new song with you – one that’s v.important to me and was produced by a good friend of mine; chrome sparks ^_^
i’m also SO stoked to announce that i’ll be supporting the lovely KITTEN on the first half of their US tour!
i’ve got new merch, new songs + lots of new nail polish colors so i hope i see as many of you as possible (:

You can download Kitty’s newest EP (chock full of illegible, emoticon-filled song titles) via Bandcamp for free.
