Julian Casablancas Announces New Solo Album and Tour

We’ve been looking forward to new solo material from The Strokes‘ frontman Julian Casablancas all year long. He and his backing band, Julian Casablancas + The Voidz, have played several shows and festival dates but haven’t actually dropped the name of their new album or any of its songs. Now, halfway through this year, we get a peek at the new album, Tyranny, in a short video trailer

The album is Casablancas’ follow-up to 2009′s Phrazes for the Young and drops September 23 on his own imprint, Cult Records. Pre-orders are now ongoing for only $3.87. Who knows if it can top his work on Daft Punk’s “Instant Crush.” Looks like we’ll have to wait four more months to find out (although the album trailer does reveal a few audio snippits). To support the new record, Julian Casablancas + The Voidz will be doing a US tour this October.
