‘Dracula Untold’ Trailer: Vlad Wasn’t Always That Bad

Thanks to the ongoing success HBO has found with Game Of Thrones it seems Hollywood is gearing up for a new wave of historical action films. We have covered The Rock’s turn as Hercules pretty heavily, but as far as I know this post is the first time we have been able to share a little insight on Luke Evans’ upcoming turn as Vlad The Impaler in Dracula Untold.

Yes, in a year where I, Frankenstein bombed harder than any other two Aaron Eckhart films combined, the great and mysterious Dracula is being given his very own origin film. You know, because everyone always wonders where the cool stuff they love got its start. The film stars Luke Evans as the infamous Vlad the Impaler, and from the first trailer it appears he is presented to audiences as a man driven by a need to protect his family and country. His motives are good and pure, but as evil begins to swarm he makes a deal with darkness that has irreversible repercussions for our hero. You can view the footage below:

Dracula Untold opens October 17.
