SURPRISE: The Weeknd Returns With “Often”

Holy. Shit.

Out of nowhere, Canadian crooner The Weeknd has decided to break his studio silence and share a brand new track titled “Often.”

It’s hard to know what is going on at the moment as this song has only just begun to make the rounds online, but it seems that a follow-up to Kiss Land could be well under way. “Often” finds Abel Tesfaye describing another party scene, but unlike the vast majority of his catalog his tone is far more excited than melancholy. He seems happy, or at least more confident than before, and that approach, coupled with the bouncy production provided by Ben Billions, is simply too good to resist.

By the time the sun rises this song will be everywhere, so click below and discover what Abel has been crafting over the past several months:

I could imagine this song being pushed to top 40 radio with the right backing, and I don’t think that is something that can be said for anything off Kiss Land. Could this be the sound to the next chapter of his career? If so, count me in. I need to see this song live like I need another breath in order to live.

If you feel the same, fear not. Abel likes to tour and will likely return to the road before the year is out. At least, we hope that is what happens, but only after more new music makes its way to our ears. Follow UTG on Twitter for updates.
