For better or worse, Michael Bay and Hasbro toys have made one of the most successful movie series of the past decade. This weekend saw the release of this franchise’s fourth installment, with Transformers: Age of Extinction. After the blockbuster had 2014’s biggest opening day by making over $41 million this past Friday, it looks like there will be around $100 million to be made by the end of the weekend.
Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill’s 22 Jump Street landed in second with a much more minuscule $15.4 million. Last week’s top film Think Like a Man Too had slipped on the charts to position #4 with $10.4 million, and has even fallen below its competitor that it had previously beaten, How To Train Your Dragon 2, which made $13.1 million this week.
