What do you get when you match up two of raps most diverse and quick lyricists? You get a six-minute-long rap anthem by the name of “Calm Down” that hits on everything from social media, to Clive Davis, to music critics and back around to Fahrvergnügens. Yes. The Volkswagen van. Only Busta Rhymes would rap about a van and make it work.
Speed isn’t the point here, as both of the veterans excel in their sporadic, smart rhymes that even make sense. Even producer Scoop Deville has time to sample “Jump Around” by House of Pain. This six-minute rap battle between Busta and Eminem is just that, two colossal powerhouses straight rapping for about 3 minutes a piece with no stop or chorus. It’s no doubt that these two men are still experts at their craft.
“Calm Down” will be the lead off single for Busta Rhymes’ new full-length, which will be entitled E.L.E. 2, which is due out later this year.
