Today In WTF News: Watch ‘The Nest,’ A New NSFW Short Film By David Cronenberg

Director David Cronenberg, who we got to interview a week and a half ago (check that out here), has debuted his new short film The Nest on YouTube for all to see. This is a true joy in news today as this short film is about as close to another signature Cronenberg ‘body horror’ film like The Fly and Videodrome that we will get in the immediate future.

The Nest follows a patient (Orphan Black’s Evenlyne Brochu) as she is speaking to the surgeon that is tasked with removing her left breast. You would think that it would be for some sort of breast cancer, right? You would be wrong as something much more macabre and uncomfortable is forcing this woman to undergo the surgery, in a dingy basement nonetheless. Cronenberg plays the surgeon questioning her motives as we look from his point of view for the duration of the short.

The Nest is presented in part by International Film Festival Rotterdam and the EYE film institute in Amsterdam as part of a major exhibition showcasing Cronenberg’s massive body of work. Enjoy the short below and sound off in the comments on what you think!

Warning: this really is NSFW, don’t you dare watch this in your cubicle with your co-workers walking by.
