Although this year’s Fourth of July weekend felt rather lackluster in comparison to last year’s, Transformers: Age Of Extinction has maintained its leading position on the charts for a consecutive week. Come tonight, the Michael Bay-produced action film will pull an estimated $36.4 million dollars.
Tammy came out on top of this week’s slew of premieres, making $21.1 million in the process. This didn’t quite measure up to the $39 million haul leading actress Melissa McCarthy made last year with her summertime comedy, The Heat. Behind that came the low-budget horror that could, Deliver Us From Evil, which scraped up $9.5 million. At the rear end of the pack was Relativity’s family friendly film, Earth to Echo, which made $8.25 million.
