Azealia Banks Parts Ways With Interscope Records

A few months back, Azealia Banks made headlines for publicly voicing her dissatisfaction with Interscope Records via a series of nasty tweets. Never one to shy away from the spotlight, late yesterday, the 23-year-old rapper returned to Twitter to announce that she has parted ways with the Universal offshoot, and is apparently really freakin’ jacked about it. Banks’ excitement shouldn’t come as a shock to anyone, as in the past she has made a point to outwardly blame the label for delaying her forthcoming album, Broke With Expensive Taste. A follow-up to 2012’s 1991, the record is supposedly dropping at some point this summer, however, given these recent developments, that timeframe may very well be altered in the weeks ahead.

Then again, you never really know with Ms. Banks. Maybe this newfound freedom will yield one of the most hard-hitting releases of the year? Only time will tell, but you can bet we’ll keep you posted as more details surface. In the meantime, follow us on Twitter to stay in the loop.
