Thousand Foot Krutch Share “Born This Way”

People may not know this, but Thousand Foot Krutch originally rose to fame for being a Christian answer to the nu-metal wave sweeping North America in the early 2000s (proof). Over the years, however, they evolved into a straightforward rock outfit that could not be further from the world of rap unless they added a twang-heavy acoustic guitar track. There’s nothing wrong with that evolution, of course, but after you hear their latest single you may find their origin story pretty amusing.

The member of Thousand Foot Krutch turned to YouTube shortly after midnight this morning to upload and share the first song from their highly-anticipated new album. The track, which is titled “Born This Way,” is drenched in classic rock influence, with a radio-ready bounciness that feels perfect for rubbing shoulders with the likes of Pop Evil or Five Finger Death Punch. It’s not exactly generic radio rock, but it’s certainly a change of pace from the TFK many have come to know and love over the years. Click below to stream the song and decide for yourself:

In a new press release, TFK frontman Trevor McNevan says “Born This Way” is about being comfortable in your own skin. “We were made to be who we are, and every one of us is unique,” says McNevan. “We’re wired the way we are for a reason. We were all created equal, and this song is an anthem for everyone who’s tired of being someone they’re not, or has to dumb down who they are for someone else. Be yourself, you’re the best version of you.”

Thousand Foot Krutch will release their new album, OXYGEN:INHALE, on August 25 via Hassle Records. The LP was produced by McNevan and Aaron Sprinkle. If you would like to pre-order the record, you can do so now through PledgeMusic. We’ll bring you more on the album as soon as additional information becomes available.
