Watch Walking Bicycles’ Dark Stop-Motion Music Video for “Eyesore”

Walking Bicycles‘ name may sound like a quaint twee-pop group, but get ten seconds into one of their songs and you’ll realize they’re anything but. The Chicago-based group stomp around with the type of gloom rock that hinges on noise, speed, and a little bit of pop, all while nodding to Siouxsie and the Banshees. Their newest single “Eyesore” off To Him That Wills The Way (out August 12 via Highwheel Records) is proof of that, and now we get a dark stop-motion music video to accompany it.

Directed and produced by Elliott Kaffee, and inspired by H.P. Lovecraft’s short story, From Beyond, the video follows a mad scientist who questions his world and the ways in which he can change it. It’s a hybrid of stop-motion animation and live film that parallels with the album’s concept — taking that leap of faith forward in order to arrive in a completely alien environment — and the song’s undertones. Dim the lights, grab a blanket, and get ready for three minutes of sci-fi action.
