Yung Lean Sounds A Little Melancholy On “Re-charge”

Yung Lean has been the great white hope of internet culture for the better part of a year at this point, and as of late he’s started to see his online hype translate into real world success. The Swedish native has become known for a hard-hitting and unique style, which in recent months has allowed him to tour many corners of the Earth. Still, even when things are going great it’s possible to feel sad, which seems to be the motivation behind Lean’s latest track, “Re-charge.”

Lacking the intensity of his usual offerings, but still featuring killer production, “Re-charge” arrived online just in time for the rain to arrive at UTG HQ. It’s the kind of song you expect to be playing while you sit on the bus and watch rain dancing off the often filthy windows while thinking about some heavy life decisions you keep putting off even though you know doing so only makes things worse. Lean is not the type to wear his heart on his sleeve, but that appears to be exactly what he has done with this track, and it’s just as good as anything else the young emcee has delivered in 2014. You can stream the song below:

I would not expect this melancholy style to become a regular occurrence in the world of Yung Lean, but it is exciting to hear him exploring new areas of music. Comment below and let us know your thoughts on “Re-charge.”
