ALBUM STREAM: Within The Ruins – ‘Phenomena’

It’s been just over a year since Within The Ruins‘ last album, Elite, but the band was more anxious than ever to release another record that sounds like Within The Ruins.

Don’t get me wrong, out of all the bands doing over-produced, shredtastic, breakdown-HEAVY metalcore, they’re pretty much the only one that I still truly enjoy. These dudes slay for sure, even if all their records sound the same. The first time I heard Creature, my mind was blown. Five years later with Phenomena…not so much. But it’s still a record that urges you to dust off the ol’ air guitar and bang your head through its entire 46-minute runtime.

Guitarist Joe Cocchi told our BFFs over at Alternative Press, “We took six months off over the winter too eat, sleep and breathe this album. It was by far the most in depth we’ve ever gone in the writing process. Since the inception of this band, our attitude has always been to completely trump our previous efforts in every aspect, and I think we did just that. We’re beyond stoked for people to hear this one.”
