Forces of emo unite on “A Keepsake,” the second single off the upcoming Empire! Empire! (I Was A Lonely Estate) album You Will Eventually Be Forgotten. Bob Nanna of Braid – which released a wonderful new album earlier this summer – features on the track with a guest verse.
It’s always odd to hear another voice on an Empire! Empire! track, what with Keith Latinen’s distinctive voice and the band’s telltale twin guitars being so intrinsically tied on almost every other song from the band. It makes for a striking passage, akin to Matt Agrella’s verse on the finale of the previous Empire! Empire! full-length. Stream “A Keepsake” over on NPR for yourself, and form your own take on the Petoskey stone tale.
You Will Eventually Be Forgotten is due August 19. It will come in a variety of colors, which you can pre-order now from Count Your Lucky Stars and Topshelf Records. A graphic novel using the album’s lyrics, a poster, and a picnic t-shirt are also available for pre-order in many different packages.
