Hilary Duff to Release New Record with RCA

You know who we haven’t seen in a while? Hilary Duff. And do you know who we’re going to be seeing a lot more of soon? You guessed it.

After a seven-year absence from the music industry, Hilary Duff has just announced that she’s signed on to RCA Records and will be releasing an album this fall. The question, of course, is: what it’s going to sound like? Her debut album Metamorphosis was appropriately saccharine pop and her last album, 2007’s Dignity, took more of a dance turn. Seven years, a marriage, and a baby later and it seems safe to assume that Duff will want to take a new direction.

We won’t have to wait long to find out. The first single, “Chasing the Sun,” will be released for purchase on July 29 with an accompanying video. The song was penned by Colbie Caillat, Jason Reeves, and Toby Gad which seems to confirm a more mature direction for Duff’s sound.

“I took a break from music for quite awhile, but it gave me the power to choose my next steps carefully and I’m really proud of the album I’ve made. ‘Chasing the Sun’ is a light and fun summer song that I hope helps people to feel a little more carefree,’ she said.

In the heat of summer, who doesn’t need some light and fun music? And after so long, her fans could use some more Hilary Duff. I, for one, am excited.
