AllHipHop Owner Pens Open Letter To Nicki Minaj About Her Image And Position Of Influence

We don’t typically cover album art as news, but at the end of last week Nicki Minaj made the internet explode by sharing an extremely revealing photo of herself in a hot pink thong that was said to be the artwork for her next promotional single. The photo, which also serves as the main image on this article, showcased Minaj’s posterior in a way never before seen by the public. The response to the image has been mixed, but we didn’t feel any need to get involved until the founder of AllHipHop penned a letter to the rap superstar we could not put down.

Chuck Creekmur, otherwise known as the man behind AllHipHop, has written an open letter to Nicki Minaj that speaks from his perspective as the father of a young girl who is just beginning to become a young woman. In his message, Creekmur applauds Nicki’s success, but expressed concern over the way she has chosen to express and promote herself over the last week. He mentions the fact that Minaj once tried to downplay her sexiness in order to be taken more seriously, but more and more often these days it seems she has thrown that caution to the wind altogether. You can read an excerpt below:

I’m trying to raise a young girl that will eventually grow into someone greater than the both of us. I know that this requires great parenting, great education, great luck and an assortment of great influences. I’m sure you know the influence you wield, but now, if you told the “Barbs” to scratch my eyes out, some would attack without thinking about it. I’m sure some will also replicate the “Anaconda” image without thinking about it too. Your original image already has 256,817 (and counting) likes under the original Instagram picture you posted, so I venture that your average girl could strive to get a couple hundred likes from her friends. Is this the path you want to lead impressionable kids down?

Make no mistake about it, you’re a leader now.

You can read the letter, in full, over at MommyNoire. Whether you’re a parent or just a fan of Minaj who may feel a bit caught off guard by her latest album cover, I highly suggest spending time with the letter when your schedule allows.

Minaj has not commented about Creekmur’s letter just yet, but she did announce that the release of “Anaconda” would be delayed by several days without giving any explanation for the wait. We’ll continue to follow this story and bring you additional updates as it continues to develop. Stay tuned.
