Listen to Greylag’s Beautiful Folk Single “Another”

Portland trio Greylag have the rustic charm and sweet folk rock of a band whose music will break the grip of fall and see itself played year-round. Their self-titled debut comes out October 14 via Dead Oceans. We suggest pre-ordering it now, especially after you give opening track “Another” a listen after the jump.

It’s been a while since we’ve been this excited over an Americana band. With producer Phil Ek behind the board, the similarities to Fleet Foxes and The Shins are obvious, but even moreso given their songwriting abilities. Roots get a rhythmic stomping in “Another” with guitar licks straight from celtic jam circles and dark, emotionally softened lyrics. Just like the genre itself, it wins you over with simplicity. Trust us: Greylag need to be on your radar for 2014.
