Get Your Freak On; New Missy Elliott Record In The Works

Way before teenage girls with Instagram would twerk it, Missy ‘MISDEMEANOR’ Elliott taught our youth how to work it. And before Timbaland was recognized for working with artists such as Justin Timberlake, he was notoriously known for shooting rappers like Elliott into the next realm of hip-hop super stardom.

“It’s coming,” producer Timbaland told Rolling Stone. “It’s on her. She got the first single, it’s just a matter of when she wants to do it. We got the hollow-tip bullet in the gun. We have the game-changer right there.”

For Missy, it’s been a quiet few years; and by years I mean almost a decade. In 2005, she released her last record The Cookbook. For younger generations, those who were introduced to female rapping by the likes of Nicki Minaj rather than Foxy Brown, Lil Kim, or Missy Elliott, hopefully this new record will show them that the old school will reign supreme.

Missy Elliott didn’t always fit the mold of what society tells us is beautiful, but she did manage to sexualize herself at the expense of men (see “One Minute Man”) way before Minaj decided to show off her ass in the same frame as the word “Anaconda.”

While speaking in regards to Elliott’s latest style, Timbaland said, “It’s something you ain’t never heard Missy do. It sounds today, but the future.”
