Over a year ago, Chris Brown fans got the news that the follow-up to Fortune was on its way. But then it wasn’t. The release date got pushed back again and again, six times in total. Someone was putting the finishing touches on the album, but Chris Brown had some other extracurricular activities on his plate over the last year; namely court appearances, time in court-mandated rehab, and jail for parole violations. He was locked away, but that didn’t stop the album’s first single, “Loyal,” from becoming a chart mainstay and selling over a million copies. In June, he was released from jail and dropped his newest single “New Flame,” to which Usher and Rick Ross lend their talents.
Chris Brown announced yesterday that the full album, titled X, will drop on September 16. Hopefully, barring any unforeseen legal issues, that’s the date that sticks. Check out “New Flame” below.
