Get Hooked on Hula Hoops in Bishop Allen’s “Why I Had To Go” Video

In just two weeks, Brooklyn indie pop group Bishop Allen will mark their return to the scene after five years with their newest full-length, Lights Outon Dead Oceans. To celebrate, they have shared a music video for single “Why I Had To Go,” the effortlessly punchy track that has us eager to hear the whole record.

Directed by Chad Smith and Justin Rice, the video shows the ins and outs of hula-hooping as done by a myriad of characters. With every new face that picks up the hoop, we see them relax and try their best, resulting in a consuming visual piece that lets you get lost in the song. “Why I Had To Go” works its summery sound to loop with the video’s swirling perfectly, especially considering the lyrics refer to “the endless repetition of an action.”
