‘Theory Of Everything’ Trailer: Eddie Redmayne Is Stephen Hawking

Get your awards season ballot ready, everyone. James Marsh has revealed the first trailer for his Stephen and Jane Hawking biopic, The Theory Of Everything.

You may think you know the story of Stephen Hawking, the groundbreaking scientist Family Guy loves to poke fun at, but the truth is no one knows the man behind some of the biggest scientific breakthroughs of all time quite like his wife, Jane. James Marsh’s (Man On Wire) upcoming film The Theory Of Everything is adapted from her book, Travelling to Infinity: My Life with Stephen, and as you will see in the trailer below the story being shared will give audiences their first-ever look at Stephen’s transformation into the person we all know today. The Theory Of Everything stars Eddie Redmayne and Felicity Jones. The film has no US release date, but it is currently scheduled to premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival. Distribution news will no doubt follow soon after.

The full synopsis for the film reads:

Starring Eddie Redmayne (“Les Misérables”) and Felicity Jones (“The Amazing Spider-Man 2”), this is the extraordinary story of one of the world’s greatest living minds, the renowned astrophysicist Stephen Hawking, who falls deeply in love with fellow Cambridge student Jane Wilde. Once a healthy, active young man, Hawking received an earth-shattering diagnosis at 21 years of age. With Jane fighting tirelessly by his side, Stephen embarks on his most ambitious scientific work, studying the very thing he now has precious little of – time. Together, they defy impossible odds, breaking new ground in medicine and science, and achieving more than they could ever have dreamed. The film is based on the memoir Travelling to Infinity: My Life with Stephen, by Jane Hawking, and is directed by Academy Award winner James Marsh (“Man on Wire”).
