UTG PHOTOS: Arcade Fire Dazzle The Gorge Amphitheater (8/814)

In what had to be seen to be believed, Arcade Fire performed at the legendary Gorge Amphitheater in George, WA on August 8. The Gorge, which sits near the Columbia River, is one of the premier concert venues in the Pacific Northwest, and what better way to breathe even more life into its structure than to host one of the biggest indie rock bands in the world?

However, Arcade Fire had one requirement for their fans who were in attendance: be dressed to the nines in semi-formal attire, and dance their asses off! Seeing this at The Gorge was interesting to say the least as the venue is known for always giving fans something unique to enjoy while soaking in the Summer weather and appreciating the Columbia River as a backdrop.

Opening for Arcade Fire were The Antlers who came dressed in masquerade, bringing their shoegazy sound to the fans in attendance. That was followed up with a DJ set from Dan Deacon, which eventually resulted in an impromptu dance party in the pit.

At last, the time came; Arcade Fire took the stage and The Gorge erupted in good times. Fans everywhere began dancing and singing along. Frontman Win Butler even interacted with audience members by grabbing their smartphones and taking selfies with them. The set was mixed with a psychedelic backdrop that likely made nearly everyone feel as though they were experiencing an acid trip from the ’60s.

Overall, this had to be one of the best shows I have seen at The Gorge. It’s pretty bold for me to say that as I have seen/covered many shows at this fine venue. But for me, this one was particularly memorable.
