She & Him announce new album, ‘Classics’

A teaser released near the end of last week let us know She & Him had something big on the horizon, and this afternoon we learned what all the fuss was about.

This fall, She & Him will released a brand new album titled Classics. The record, which will feature fourteen covers of songs that mean something to the duo, will be the group’s debut release with Columbia Records.

According to a press release sent out today, August 12, the duo of Zooey Deschanel and M. Ward recorded the covers album live, “allowing a spontaneity that captured the spirit of the songs in their truest forms.” As he’s done on their previous records, Ward helped piece together most of the arrangements on Classics by using a full 20-piece orchestra. Yes, twenty pieces. Hot damn.

“We are incredibly excited to release a record of our favorite songs,” Deschanel noted in a statement. “It was a dream of ours to record these songs in a way that highlighted the brilliance of the songwriting and the beauty of their melodies. We had a wonderful time making the record and we hope people have a wonderful time listening to it.”

No track list is available at this time, but our fingers are crossed in hopes a Nancy Sinatra track finds its way into the mix. Follow UTG on Twitter for updates.
