A biopic on the life and death of actress Brittany Murphy will be coming to Lifetime this fall, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
The Brittany Murphy Story is set to air on September 6. The movie will be focused on her earlier years, such as her mother’s attempts to turn her daughter into a star in the ’80s and ’90s, and will also touch on her accidental death and the controversy that had surrounded it.
Murphy passed away nearly five years ago at age 32.
Amanda Fuller (Last Man Standing, Grey’s Anatomy) is set to play the role of the late actress, while Sherilyn Fenn (Ray Donovan, Twin Peaks) will play her mother, Sharon Murphy.
A spokesperson for the family said they were not consulted by Lifetime and have not cooperated with the production.
Brittany Murphy starred in a variety of classic films such as Clueless, 8 Mile, and Girl, Interrupted.
