Taylor Swift Announces New Album ‘1989’ And The Lead Single Is Pretty…Different

At long last, Taylor Swift has announced her long-awaited new album and shared the first single. She hosted a very anticipated live stream on Yahoo today where she announced the album, titled 1989 (the year she was born), comes out October 27. Surprisingly, lead single “Shake It Off” features some snappy electronic production, deep baritone saxophone, and Swift laying down some real-talk rapping reminiscent of Avril Lavigne.

The music video for “Shake It Off” shows Swift pretty much responding to all the naysayers from over the years. For those who think she’s a cookie cutter country pop star, watch her get dolled up as the likes of Nicki Minaj, Lady Gaga, a ballerina, and oh so much more. It’s the perfect way to kick off what will surely be a barrage of Taylor Swift news posts over the next few months addressing the new direction she’s taking and if her old routine got stale. Say whatever you want about it, ’cause the players gonna play and the haters gonna hate.
