UTG Album Premiere: Get Stoked – ‘Washington Street’

This is a fact we have no doubt mentioned a thousand times in the past, but UTG is a product of Michigan. We may have moved our offices several times since launching on the campus of Ferris State University in the spring of 2008, but that does not mean our hearts ever left the so-called Mitten State. Part of this is due to the fact the majority of our staff’s family still resides there, and the rest is due to the understanding that no other state offers a more robust or diverse collection of incredible unsigned talent than the 26th state of the The Union.

Today, it is our delight and thrill to bring you the world premiere of Get Stoked‘s new EP, Washington Street. The 5-track release oozes with the kind of world perspective that comes from a life spent cutting your teeth on the streets of Lansing, a city that never gets the credit it deserves, but at the same time it also offers hope for a better tomorrow and plenty of good vibrations to help you with whatever struggle may be hitting you at the moment. If there was ever a 2014 release that showcased the potential for a young band to be something far greater than what they currently are, it’s this EP. Stream and discover why Get Stoked might be the future of their genre, below:

The thing I love about Washington Street, aside from the overwhelming amount of heart that has clearly been poured into every track, is just how ‘rough around the edges’ the whole affair appears. The production leaves a lot to be desired, and there are moments when the vocals waver ever so slightly, but the passion laced through every note gives you all the reason you need to keep listening. You know there will be better sounding releases this year, but nothing will sound quite as driving or immediately catching as Washington Street. Click here to pre-order your copy today.
