ALBUM STREAM: Ty Segall – ‘Manipulator’

The god of garage rock is back. After a rousing performance on Conan last week, Ty Segall is now prepped and ready to share his whole album with the world. In anticipation of its release, he’s streaming Manipulator in full before it comes out August 26 via Drag City.

Instead of whipping out an album’s worth of songs in two days, Segall took his time in studio with producer Chris Woodhouse (Thee Oh Sees, !!!, Wild Flag) this time around. He’s decided to keep the 1000 lbs. of fuzz that plod around his songs, but pile on orchestration, strings, and fancy drumming for a new sound that still clings to his core, too. The result is a 17-track release that revisits the ’60s in more ways than one. Talk about garage perfection.
