Under the Gun sent photographer Nick Karp to Irving Plaza on August 3 to check out Rixton.
For some reason I’ve happened to photograph a fair share of pop bands, and not to insult that scene, but I’m usually never enjoying the music. When asked to shoot Rixton at Irving Plaza, I honestly thought it was going to be something along the lines of when I shot Allstar Weekend, The Ready Set, etc, but I was wrong in the most positive way.
Rixton was good. Not to say that the bands mentioned prior aren’t good, but Rixton was VERY good. Similar in performance style to pop hitmakers Maroon 5, Rixton played a near-sold out second show at Irving Plaza and performed one of the best sets that I’ve seen, especially from a band without an album. Rixton are well on their way to being the next pop rock sensation. Jump on the bandwagon now, before it’s too late.
