Being the heavy-hitter that it’s proven to be this summer, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy has risen to the top of the charts. Although it’s been in theaters for four weeks now, the sci-fi action film has pulled in over $17 million this weekend.
If I Stay beat out the pack of new releases that came into theaters, with an estimated $16 million in the bank. Faith-based high school football film When the Game Stands Tall came up behind that, earning $9 million in the process. If there was one film that stumbled this weekend, it would be Frank Miller’s Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, which earned a small $6.48 million after being expected to top the charts with at least $15 million made.
