Leaked ‘Hateful Eight’ Trailer Teases Quentin Tarantino’s Latest

There was a time at the very beginning of 2014 when it seemed like the world would never see The Hateful Eight brought to life. The first project from filmmaker Quentin Tarantino since Django Unchained suffered from an early script leak near the end of 2013 that frustrated the Pulp Fiction mastermind to such an extreme he was ready to walk away from the movie altogether. Several months later, following a live reading of the leaked script that was well received, Tarantino brought the project back to life and announced plans to film in early 2015.

Fast forward to early August 2014 and the world is still at least three months away from any footage being filmed for The Hateful Eight. A rumor hit the web that a teaser for the film would appear in front of Sin City: A Dame To Kill For, but truth be told we disregarded the story as fluff due to the fact we knew no footage existed. What we didn’t realized, at least not at the time, is that the studio behind The Hateful Eight is so excited to have another Tarantino project that they’re not willing to wait for a silly thing like production to start their marketing efforts.

This past Friday I skipped out of work early to catch a screening of Sin City: A Dame To Kill For with absolutely no recollection of the rumor I had read earlier in the month. The previews played like they always do, but just before I thought the film would begin an additional clip played. It was fully animated, but it was exactly what had been rumored – a teaser for The Hateful Eight. It ran less than two minutes and did not mention a single cast member, but it did outline the plot and characters. I knew the clip would not be officially released online for sometime, but lucky for me (and you) someone from Tumblr decided to upload a cell phone shot video of the footage themselves. You can view the trailer, as seen from a slightly shaky iPhone, below:

General Sandy Smithers “The Confederate”

Kurt Russell, Bruce Dern, Samuel L. Jackson, Michael Madsen and Walton Goggins are expected to star, while Jennifer Lawrence is also rumored to be in talks (for the role of Daisy).

The Hateful Eight is slated for release in December 2015. We’ll bring you more on Tarantino’s latest as production gets underway. Follow UTG on Twitter for updated.
