iTunes Reveals Slipknot’s Album Title, Release Date, Cover Art, and Track List

The promotional run for Slipknot‘s latest studio album has been shrouded in mystery from day one, but it looks like iTunes may have just spoiled the fun of future reveals for everyone involved in the band’s current public relations campaign.

Late last night, iTunes updated its music story to include a pre-order of Slipknot’s latest studio album. The record, which was announced near the beginning of summer, had not been given an official release date, title, track list, or cover art before this time. We thought long and hard about whether or not to share what we learned, and ultimately decided that anything freely available to the public is fair to post here on UTG. If you’re in Slipknot and disagree – we apologize.

According to Apple’s music store, Slipknot’s new LP will be titled .5: The Gray Chapter. The album will hit stores on October 21 through Roadrunner Records and feature fourteen tracks (as well as two bonus songs for those who buy the record off iTunes). The artwork and cover art can be found at the end of this post.

With iTunes spoiling the fun of what could have been stretched over several weeks of reveals it will be interesting to see how, or if, Slipknot issue any kind of response. My guess is that the band will simply share the information themselves while launching physical pre-orders, but in reality, anything could happen. Follow UTG on Twitter for updates.
