‘The Rewrite’ Trailer: Hugh Grant Is The Romantic Comedy King Once More

Hugh Grant spent the past several years working on projects outside the world of romantic comedies, but the king of the genre is ready to reclaim the throne this fall with a new film called The Rewrite.

Since I’ve already told you this film is a romantic comedy there is almost no reason to discuss the plot, but let’s go ahead and fill up some space anyway. Grant plays a washed-up screenwriter who also happens to be divorced, broke, and approaching fifty at an alarming rate. His agent learns of a university in need of a screenwriting instructor and signs up our leading man even though he’s a firm believer that no one can be taught to write films. There, against all odds of happiness, he meets a woman who – like him – needs a second chance in life. You can view the film’s first trailer below:

In case you had any doubt, Marisa Tomei plays the role of Holly, otherwise known as Grant’s love interest. Allison Janney, J.K. Simmons, Chris Elliott, and Bella Heathcote also appear.

There has not been a single love story in theaters this year that I enjoyed, but something about The Rewrite has me hooked. Will it be enough to get me in theaters on October 8? I’m not sure. Comment below and let me know your thoughts.
