Sub Pop has gotten really into hip hop lately, and Clipping. is their newest act on the bill. After dropping a remarkable debut, CLPPNG, full of extremely vivid lyricism and original instrumental backing beats, the Los Angeles-based trio have been prepping highly-engaging visuals. The newest on their list is a side-smirking lyric video for “Inside Out.”

Instead of taking the usual route and pasting the words across the screen, Clipping. have plopped Daveed Diggs in the center of the screen and asked him to walk around the city rapping the song’s lyrics. One snip in Photoshop and his head is gone, replaced instead by signifiers from the very lines he’s laying down. Talk about inventive. It’s a mesmerizing clip directed by Carlos Lopez Estrada.
