SINGLE REVIEW: Kid Arkade – “Atlas Run”

Artist: Kid Arkade
Song: “Atlas Run”
Genre: Progressive House
Label: Ultra Music

A virtually anonymous collective running under the name Kid Arkade appeared on Facebook earlier this summer with no signs of life besides a simple message which stated “LOADING……..”

After months of silence since the message was posted in July, the group finally revealed a bit of key information. That being their debut single, “Atlas Run,” would be premiering on September 5 through the world renowned Ultra Music. Thus, it’s finally time to dig in and see what Kid Arkade are all about.

Starting off with a simple, repetitive kick of the bass-drum, “Atlas Run” finds the collective slowly but surely adding new layers to the track as synths, snare hits and keys all enter the atmosphere one by one. As the progressive cut builds up to the drop, some of the synth-work is almost reminiscent of a young (and less-jaded) Deadmau5 with a highly melodic and energetic feel, a sound that’s always welcome within the electronic scene.

Once the song climaxes, it quickly becomes apparent that Kid Arkade’s flavor of progressive house is going to resonate with plenty of people. Its gritty, chugging electro synths hit fast and hard with the expectation that listeners will be bouncing around in their chair or jumping to the sky at a festival. All in all, “Atlas Run” is a fantastic introduction to what Kid Arkade have to offer and will undoubtedly keep people watching for what the group releases next.
