Damien Rice Streams “My Favourite Faded Fantasy”

Just a day after announcing plans to release his first studio album in eight years, Damien Rice is streaming a new single titled “My Favourite Faded Fantasy.”

Clocking in at just over six minutes in length, “My Favourite Faded Fantasy” ushers fans back into the beautiful and often heartbreaking world of Damien Rice with poise and grace. It’s a gorgeously constructed ode to everything that could develop between two star-crossed lovers, with an ever-so-slight melancholy undertone that brings to mind Rice’s earlier works. The track premiered on BBC Radio late last night, but you can stream the song, in full, right here on UTG:

I thought I was in love with this song before the minute mark had passed, but when it transitions to an explosive full band sound in the final minute I knew that feeling was true. Damien Rice has delivered yet another folk-tinged masterpiece, and I am more confident than ever his return is going to better this genre of music as a whole.

Rice’s new album, which also happens to be titled My Favourite Faded Fantasy, hits stores in November. Comment below and let us know your thoughts on the single.
