Oscar season is slowly starting to warm up, and one of the first major studio films rolling out with potential to grab a slew of awards is the Brad Pitt war epic Fury. The first trailer sold us on the beauty and violence of the film, but the latest visuals reveal a story that is more than worth the price of admission.
Set near the end of World War II, Fury follows a seasoned war veteran (Brad Pitt) as he commands a Sherman tank and her five-man crew on a dangerous mission behind enemy lines. The latest trailer begins with the introduction of a new crew member, who seems to be a little too scared to be holding a gun, let alone controlling one from within a tank. Pitt takes the young man under his wing, and together they begin a quest to kill Nazis and end the war that seems ripe with violence and heartache. You can view the latest trailer below:
The official synopsis reads:
April, 1945. As the Allies make their final push in the European Theatre, a battle-hardened army sergeant named Wardaddy (Brad Pitt) commands a Sherman tank and her five-man crew on a deadly mission behind enemy lines. Outnumbered and outgunned, Wardaddy and his men face overwhelming odds in their heroic attempts to strike at the heart of Nazi Germany.
Shia LaBeouf is rumoured to have a fairly large role in the film, but so far the promotional materials have kept his character out of eyesight. Could the former Transformers star’s recent string of bizarre behavior have the studio feeling unsure of how people will react to his presence within the film? Comment below and let us know your thoughts.
Fury opens this October. See it.
