Early last year, I bought a Sir Sly 7″ single from Neon Gold based on one single song that I couldn’t get enough of. I’ve been waiting for their debut ever since.
The Los Angeles-based indie pop group began streaming that debut, entitled You Haunt Me, earlier this week over at Pigeons and Planes. As their little ghost logo and overcast album art might suggest, these songs stray from the bright, upbeat pop sounds currently ruling the gamut of their respective genre. There are darker themes here with solemn tones. That might sound boring to some but we promise that it’s not. You’ll still want to dance and you’ll still find yourself singing along. It’s catchy and full but if you’re looking for standard fare, top 40 pop sounds, you won’t find it here.
You Haunt Me is due out September 16 on Cherrytree/Interscope Records. Stream it in full below and pre-order it via iTunes. It’s one of the strongest releases of the year so don’t miss out.
