Stream Paul McCartney’s “Hope For The Future” From ‘Destiny’

Bungie’s most recent title, Destiny, has been reported to officially be the “most pre-ordered video game IP in history.” That’s an incredibly impressive feat for the Halo series developers. These numbers probably aren’t due to the fact that Sir Paul McCartney scored the game but if you’ve been playing the shooter as much as myself and some other UTG staffers have been for the past couple of days, then you’ve likely noticed the brilliant music that accompanies the equally gorgeous visuals.

“Hope For The Future” serves as the game’s theme song. It’s a sprawling, 4-minute epic with signature McCartney flair backed by massive, crashing orchestral elements. That’s because it was recorded with a 120-member orchestra at the historic Abbey Road Studios in London. Some may look at the song as a silly, overproduced piece of pop, but we’re rather enjoying it over here.

That goes for the rest of the score as well, which McCartney helped compose with Mike Salvatori and Marty O’Donnell, the brilliant team behind the beloved scores from the Halo series.

Destiny is available now on XBOX One, XBOX 360, PS4 and PS3. “Hope For The Future” will eventually be released as a stand-alone single.
