‘No Good Deed’ Intruded into Theaters and Made $24.5 Million

No Good Deed didn’t need a stacked budget or flashy effects to knock Guardians of the Galaxy from the top of the weekend charts. Which goes to show that sometimes, what the box office really needs to get revived is a good old-fashioned scare from a home invasion thriller.

The Screen Gems film made an estimated $24.5 million this weekend, which is a mighty feat considering its harsh 12% Rotten Tomatoes rating. Right behind it came Dolphin Tale 2, which sadly enough, didn’t measure up to the 2011 original’s $19.2 million debut pull, but only coming up with $16.6 million. Lastly, Tom Hardy’s The Drop made a rather quiet debut of only $4.2 million, which in all actuality, is impressive for a film belonging to the Fox Searchlight roster. This can likely be attributed to the fact that this crime-drama features James Gandolfini’s final performance.
