French Montana has been relatively quiet on the music front recently, but today that changed as the New York emcee delivered a solo cut that may surprise some haters.
I will forever be the first person to admit that French Montana does not have the best track record with solo material. His mixtape game was strong back in the day, but since Meek went mainstream and became the type of rapper mentioned as much for his relationships as music, something began to change. He became a gimmick, with his best work being whatever was delivered in guest appearances.
All that may be about to change, however, as French showcases a well of talent he has not tapped in some time on his new single “Suicide.” The track hit the internet with no promo or warning, but it’s honestly one of the best tracks Montana has put out in the better part of two years, if not longer. It’s catchy and built on a solid flow, with wordplay that does not rely entirely on ego and talk about “bitches” for entertainment. You can stream the song below:
It’s unclear where “Suicide” will end up, but French is still scheduled to release Mac and Cheese 4 before the end of the year. Follow UTG on Twitter for updates.
