Aubrey Plaza Is Now The Voice Of Grumpy Cat

Life After Beth star Aubrey Plaza has replaced Jane Lynch as the voice of Grumpy Cat in an upcoming Lifetime TV movie.

I know movies made for television are not something we cover on a regular basis, but it is hard to go anywhere today without running into the image of Grumpy Cat. In the year(+) since becoming the internet’s favorite meme, Grumpy Cat has brought in millions through advertising deals, public appearances, and merchandise. This fall, Lifetime is ready to give Grumpy Cat her first feature length adventure in Grumpy Cat’s Worst Christmas Ever.

Yes, this is a real movie. Yes, it is live-action.

Written by Tim Hill (Alvin and the Chipmunks) and Jeff Morris (The True Memoirs of an International Assassin), Grumpy Cat’s Worst Christmas Ever follows a lonely cat (played by Grumpy Cat herself, Tardar Sauce) who becomes increasingly grumpy while living in a mall pet store during the holiday season. That is, until a 12-year-old girl named Chrystal realizes she can talk to the feline. On Christmas Eve, Chrystal rescues her after the mall closes.

Again, this is a real movie. Hard to believe, no?

Grumpy Cat’s Worst Christmas Ever premieres on Lifetime November 29 at 8 p.m. ET/PT. There are plans to continue making Grumpy Cat themed films if this one proves to be a success, so please think twice before giving Lifetime your viewership.
