One Direction have spent the last several months touring the world in support of their 2013 effort, Midnight Memories. The group somehow found time amidst all their travels to record a new record, which is scheduled to hit stores in November, and earlier today the album’s first single found its way online. The only problem is – I swear I have heard (at least part of it) before.
Let’s rewind. New Found Glory switched gears in 2006 and released a laid back record known as Come Home. It’s an album that sounds unlike any other record from the Florida pop punk outfit, and it boasted a number of great tracks that have since become universally known as ‘fan favorites.’ The biggest, which also happened to be the album’s lead single, is known as “It’s Not Your Fault.” You can stream the song below:
Pretty great, right?
Fast forward to today. One Direction have shared a new song titled “Steal My Girl,” which serves as the opening track off their upcoming album. The song is far more pop-laden than anything New Found Glory would release, but nestled in the center of the production is a piano melody that sounds remarkably similar to the one that guides “It’s Not Your Fault.” Go ahead and take a listen for yourself:
I probably spun “Steal My Girl” a dozen times before I realized what song it reminded me of, then New Found Glory member Chad Gilbert confirmed my suspicions with a tweet that read:
Props to the @onedirection "steal my girl" single for reworking the "it's not your fault" piano part into a top 40 single. Let me get a cut

One Direction have yet to respond to these accusations, and to be honest I doubt they ever will. NFG could sue and the members of 1D would probably remain tight-lipped while their legal team sorted everything out. Maybe it’s just me, but the guys just don’t seem like the fighting type. Their fans, however, are an entirely different story:
All you One D'z nuts fans.Second period is starting. Get to class and stop tweeting me.It's not their fault so please stop your tweeting now

We’ll bring you more on this story as it develops. New Found Glory will release their new album, Resurrection, on October 7.

Every song on that record was ‘influenced’ by a classic track. It’s obnoxious, yet crazy catchy
What about the fact that both sounds a lot like Faithfully by Journey?
