Slipknot Stream “XIX”

“This song is not for the living. This song is for the dead.”

“XIX,” otherwise known as the opening track off Slipknot‘s highly-anticipated new album, has appeared online ahead of the record’s late October release. The track begins with a soft spoken Corey Taylor uttering the phrase above before transitioning into an acoustic-driven track that finds Taylor belting about how disconnected he feels from everything around him. He’s broken, alone, and contrary to what you might hear he is not doing well. He wants you to join him, and in many ways “XIX” serves as his call to arms. You can stream the song on Slipknot’s official website.

I’ll be the first to admit that “XIX” feels a bit like a tease in the worst possible way. The track builds and builds to what should be the beginning of “Sarcastrophe,” but when that song does not begin you are left feeling a little unfulfilled. That’s temporary, however, and soon you will be able to enjoy the track in the context it was meant to be heard.

Slipknot’s new album, .5: The Gray Chapter, is scheduled for release on October 21 via Roadrunner Records. Pre-orders are now available on Amazon.comiTunes and through the official Slipknot store, which has a mass amount of bundles available.
